There is plenty to see and do around Park House.

Walking

The Lake District is a well-known walking area and there is a comprehensive network of local footpaths suitable for all ages as well as longer fell walks.

Boating

Coniston Boating Centre (4 miles) has rowing boats for hire.

Many local firms also offer canoeing, boating, mountain biking and climbing day activities for the older members.

Swimming

There is an outdoor pool in Coniston available during the summer holidays as well as an indoor pool at Troutbeck Bridge, which can be reached by public transport.

Grizedale Visitor Centre (2 miles) has mountain bikes for hire to ride straight into the forest as well as walks, sculpture trails, an adventure park and Go Ape (activity for older members)

Beatrix Potter lived 2 miles from Hawkshead at Near Sawrey, where her house can be visited - alternatively, the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness is an ideal visit for Brownies. The National Trust's Beatrix Potter Gallery, in Hawkshead Village, is suitable for older children.

The Lake District is a very popular place to visit and there are numerous other local attractions, including an Aquarium and steam train ride at Lakeside.
